BE In the know....
This week we will finish up things before the break and won't move onto anything new before the break.
6th Graders are going to be reading a series of short stories and informative texts until Thursday. 8th Grade will be taking TWO quizzes on Thursday. Both are really short, with one even being only SIX multiple choice questions. FRIDAY: We have had the students sign up for different teachers' classrooms throughout the last week. We are going to finish the sign ups for 3rd and 4th period tomorrow. Each teacher is doing various activities in their room before the Jingle Bell Jog in the afternoon. I hope we have a great finish to the semester with all the fun activities going on this week. If you would like to donate to a classroom, please email the teacher you would like to support. I am doing cookies, milk, and movies on Friday.

Florida and Pinellas County Schools requires all teachers to have a certain amount of ESOL training hours. For many teachers it is only 60 hours, but for English and Reading teachers we are required to have 300. I am currently finishing up my second 60 hours.
By the end of this semester, I will have a total of 120 of the 300 required for all English teachers. By the end of the school year, I will have 180 of those hours. I am also working on my Reading Endorsement. I am currently enrolled in my first 60 hours, but I will have 120 of the 300 by the end of the school year. Please bear with me. These classes are both time consuming and costly. Thank you for your understanding and patience, Mrs. Campos Middle school has been having too many issues with behavior and respect towards classmates and teachers. I have also noticed students not using their school computers for school appropriate things. We can only monitor their computer screens so much, and often rely on their integrity. Please discuss with your students proper computer etiquette and how they should be treating others.
It is important for students to learn to respect and work well with others. We are together 5 days a week for 7 hours a day, we need to work together to be a positive learning environment. Thank you! This week we have many things going on! We have The Great American Teach In taking place around the campus!
The Jingle Bells Gift Shop is taking place until Friday! Please me sure to send a few dollars with your student to school this week. I'm not sure when we are going or which class they will be going in, but they will have a chance to go sometime this week. Friday may end up being a fun Friday for my classes. It all depends on student behavior and if we get all work done by the end of Thursday. I would like to make it s fun day, but we will see. Students are permitted to wear blue jeans with a white or blue shirt tomorrow. They will be participating in the events tomorrow.
Please have students at school by 8:40. Student Council President voting takes place tomorrow before the dress rehearsals for Ohi/Veterans' Day Events. Every count votes! I will be assigning various Mobymax.com lessons for the different classes to do. These lessons will be going into the grade book as participation because they are practice, but still need to be done.
I decided to do these lessons as a way for the students to get practice in different areas where they may struggle. The lessons in Mobymax.com are based on the Florida 6th or 8th grade Standards (it depends on their grade level). I hope these various lessons will help them practice skills we have already learned in class and make them stronger. Even though it is a participation grade, they should work to get a 80% or higher. If they do not, I will assign the lesson again. This way they can work on it again. |
